Up All Night – Pictures and Words #pinterest, #excerpt, #romance

Saturday, February 22nd, 2014 | Book Pimpage | No Comments

Today’s picture and words is dedicated to Up All Night, book 3 in the Beach House Night series. The hero and heroine (Ian and Stella) are soooo different from each other. Opposites attract right? First we have Stella, an uptight workaholic who’s struggling to keep  her antique furniture store afloat. She’s visiting the beach house so she can get a look at the antique furniture Dayna (Lover’s Revenge) inherited from her grandmother. Now Ian on the other hand, is a complete free spirit. Lucky enough to win a multi-million dollar lottery prize when he was twenty-five, he enjoys life to the fullest. Stella thinks he’s nothing but a playboy who’s only interested in having fun, but she comes to find out there is more to Ian that just his pretty face and his money.

Enjoy this segment of “pictures and words” with Stella and Ian.

attic

A rush of heat sparked along her veins when Ian trailed a finger over her cheek. “You mean, ” he said, huskily, “you’re going to waste that white sandy beach, that gorgeous pool and your beautiful body by rummaging around in the attic all weekend?”

Her insides tingled with pleasure and she nodded. He moved around her to the step above and took her by the waist. Heat suffused her skin, and she found herself leaning back into his embrace. A delicate whisper of wind pushed a tendril of hair from her ear when he leaned forward and said, “Nope. Not going to let you.”

ducati

Because of the windfall, he didn’t have to work and could take off to a foreign country whenever the mood struck. Or hit the highways on his Ducati to wherever his fancy took him. That didn’t mean there was no meaning to his life, no substance, that he didn’t have purpose. But Stella never took the time to find out. She stood her ground each and every time he saw her and didn’t bat an eyelash when he teased and flirted in an attempt to get her attention.

yellow sundress

“It was at Harper’s mother’s house three years ago, at her annual Fourth of July picnic. You were wearing a yellow sundress.” He twisted a tendril of her hair around his finger, pulled her to him, and slid a digit down her back. “And your hair was all the way down here.”

bed

“Damn,” he said as she stepped out of them. “Lie back on the bed.”

After she did as he asked, he began at her feet, inched up her legs, past her knees to her smooth thighs and delighted in the little hitched breaths she made the closer he got …

Up All Night 2

Stella Lewis is excited when she receives a weekend invite to a friend’s beach house, especially when the beach house’s attic is full of priceless furniture she can sell at her struggling antique store. The last thing she expected was to be sidelined by her attraction to playboy millionaire, Ian Hollis. The two have nothing in common, except their insane but inexplicable attraction to each other.

After winning a multi-million dollar lottery when he was only twenty-five, Ian Hollis has been living the high life. But the first time he saw Stella, he knew there was something sinful hiding beneath the exterior of the prim and proper miss. Proving it to the workaholic beauty is a whole different story. Stella is running scared, but if she thinks she can rebuff Ian’s advances that easily, she’s in for a surprise. Ian is willing to prove to Stella he can stay up all night to prove she’s the woman of his dreams.

Up All Night

Beach House Nights Book #3

Stella Lewis is excited when she receives a weekend invite to a friend’s beach house, especially when the beach house’s attic is full of priceless furniture she can sell at her struggling antique store. The last thing she expected was to be sidelined by her attraction to playboy millionaire, Ian Hollis. The two have nothing in common, except their insane but inexplicable attraction to each other.

Ian is willing to prove to Stella he can stay up all night to prove she’s the woman of his dreams.

Excerpt:

Stella shivered a little when he tilted his head. She opened her mouth to speak but she never got the chance. Once his lips touched hers, she forgot everything and found herself being thoroughly kissed. The moment she felt his tongue invade her mouth, she lost every inhibition she’d buried deep inside her.

Ian introduced her to a range of sensations she never knew existed. It started in her toes and turned her knees into jelly. An erotic tingle began in the middle of her thighs, snaking up her pelvis to her breasts, squeezing her nipples into hard points.

Turbulent emotions, so unfamiliar to her, erupted across every inch of her skin. His lips were sure and potent, his mouth a feast of sugar and spice. An unexpected sizzle had her gripping his shirt, holding on for dear life.

The kiss was deadly. Blood rushed everywhere at once, fast and furious, with each swish of his tongue. He lapped at her lips, leaving her entire body shuddering from the inside out.

He tightened his arms around her waist, almost stealing her breath, and when he shifted, she found her back flat against the soft mattress, scorched by the heat of him, the thick hardness behind the zipper of his linen shorts pulsing between her spread legs. When she arched her hips, he moaned deep in his throat.

Ian released her mouth, and she protested until he brushed kisses across her forehead, eyebrows, cheeks, and temples. His hands eased from her waist to smooth up her stomach before cupping her breasts.

“Stella, you’ve been driving me crazy for years,” he muttered and moved back to her lips, allowing her to feel each glorious inch of muscle and man.

Stella gripped the front of his shirt and yanked. She heard the buttons scatter. Some hit the headboard, others the bed and the carpeted floor. Ian swore softly and pulled her up, ridding her of her blouse with a subtle and practiced ease.

He sucked a quick gulp of air into his lungs. “You’re exquisite,” he said, dragging his finger over the lace of her bra. “I knew you would be.”

It pleased her. The only thing Stella ever splurged on was her underwear, loving the feel of silk against her skin. She might be prim and proper on the outside, but she knew how to sex it up on the inside, even if no one ever saw it.

Until now.

Until Ian.

Up All Night – Six Sentence Sunday, #sixsunday

Sunday, November 4th, 2012 | Book Pimpage, Six Sentence Sunday | 7 Comments

This week’s Six Sentence Sunday comes from my upcoming release, Up All Night, book #3 of my Beach House Nights Series! This six comes from the part of the story where Stella is fighting her attraction to Ian. :-) Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ian looked like a jungle cat ready to pounce. “Are you ready to have some fun?”
His lips were so close to hers. Wicked thoughts suddenly began to race through her mind. All she had to do was stick out her tongue and taste him. One taste. She bit her tongue to keep it in her mouth and her breathing increased. By the rise and fall of his, oh so masculine chest, so had Ian’s.
Would it really be so bad if she let go this one time, this one weekend?
Writing Wednesday – The Novella That Won’t End!
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012 | Day Job, Work In Progress, Writing | 4 Comments
It’s been a busy last couple of weeks. I spent last week in teacher staff development sessions and getting prepared for school to start. It’s taken some getting used too…being in a new library in a new building surrounded by new people, but I like it! I’m exactly where I want to be doing exactly what I “want” to do. There’s nothing like liking your career and the stage that it’s in.  I did get some bad health news about my father over the weekend but I’m optimistic that things will be all right. I refuse to mope around feeling depressed. If I did, my children would see right through it and I’m not going to diminish their joy of a new school year and meeting old and new friends. So…I’m putting on a happy face.
Now…to translate that happiness and motivation into writing. I’m still working on Up All Night. This is the short story that refuses to be short…well, as short as I thought it was going to be. I love these characters though. Ian and Stella are unique. I don’t think I’ve ever written a couple like them before. Ian is this “great” guy, enjoying life but hiding a big heart behind his wealth and Stella is this proper and prim miss who refuses to give him the time of day because she thinks he’s nothing but a playboy and is not seeing the sensitive soul underneath. But…it’s the story that WON’T END! I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
I’m determined to have this one completed, edited, formatted and uploaded by the end of the month…even if it kills a couple of brain cells.
What about you? If you’re a writer, have you ever had a story that seemed like it didn’t want to end? If you’re a reader, have you ever read a story where you thought…enough already…or got to the end and wish it hadn’t?
Happy Hump Day!
Peace, love and sex!
Writing Wednesday – Goals and More Goals
Wednesday, August 8th, 2012 | Day Job, Work In Progress, Writing | No Comments
I’ve come to the realization that August is a horrible month to write for me. WHY I’m just figuring this out…I don’t know. I go back to work in August. School starts in August. Duh!
It’s extremly hard to get writing time in when I have so much to do and get ready for. Plus, added with that…I’m in a new building this year and it’s going to take time to get used to my surroundings. And once school starts…forgetaboutit. I’m so busy during the day that I’m too wiped out by the time I get home to do anything. Not to mention learning about my children’s first days, making sure they have the right school supplies (which undoubtedly – they don’t – even though I followed the school supply list to the letter – there’s always something extra), homework, cooking dinner. Usually after all of this, there is no room left in my brain for creativity. The only thing I want in my brain – something clogging it up so I don’t have to think – like alcohol. Ha!
However, in saying all this, I have to get a book finished this month! The third book in my Beach House Nights series (Up All Night) is calling to me to get her done. So. I. Must. Do. It.
So…goals for this week which MUST be finished by August 17th.
  1. Complete Up All Night
  2. Send Up All Night to editor
  3. Send Up All Night to formatter
  4. Upload Up All Night to vendors
We’ll see what happens.
What about you? Do you have any goals this week? What do you HAVE to get finished?
Peace, love and sex!
Up All Night – Six Sentence Sunday
Sunday, August 5th, 2012 | Book Pimpage, Six Sentence Sunday, Writing | 7 Comments
This week my contribution to Six Sentence Sunday is the 3rd short in my Beach House Night Series that I will be publishing in the next few weeks. It’s going out to my editor by the end of the week and she usually gives me a really quick turn-around so hopefully, I’ll have it up at the usual places by the end of next week. This one is called Up All Night and it’s Ian and Stella’s story. Ian is a really great guy, however, Stella thinks he’s a millionaire playboy with no substance. She is soooo wrong about him. I really had fun writing this story. I hope you like the six I chose.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Did you miss me?” His voice came from behind her.

She jolted and sat up straight, pushing her eye-glasses back onto her nose. “Actually, you took too long.” She made a move to stand up. “I really need to get back to the house.”

Ian grabbed her by the waist and wouldn’t let her stand, pulling her into his lap against his lean muscled body. Her stomach began to jitterbug. She twisted, placed her hands against his chest and almost melted. “Um…I was perfectly fine where I was sitting.”

A slow smile spread over his face. “But I like you much better right here.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don’t forget to visit the other authors participating in Six Sentence Sunday. I hope you have a great rest of the weekend.
Peace, love and sex!
