What’s Your Color of Love? #coloroflove, #interracial, #multicultural, #books

Thursday, November 21st, 2013 | Blog Hop, Book Pimpage, Coming Soon, Contests | 8 Comments

Welcome to my stop on the Cover of Love Blog Hop.

ColorofLove_Bloghop

Personally…I love love in all its many facets and shades. It’s one of the reasons I write multicultural and interracial romance. I firmly believe that people should have the choice to date and marry whoever they want to and not be ridiculed for it.

Right now my FAVORITE show on television features an interracial relationship (although taboo because he’s married) which in reality everyone should really HATE but because of the way the show is written…you can’t HELP but love these characters and WANT them to get their happily ever after.

Scandal

I’m also having a super fan girl crush on Henry Cavill right now. I mean the man is HELLA  FINE and can not take a bad picture. I will NOT admit how many times I’ve watched my DVD of Man of Steel since I went to Target at 9 o’clock in the morning the day it was released. Yes…it’s that bad. (Check out my Pinterest board dedicated to Mr. Superman himself and see if I’m wrong about not taking a bad picture.)

Henry

And ever since the mid 1990′s I have adored me some Shemar Moore who is bi-racial (white mother/black father). (You can check out my Pinterest board dedicated to him as well.)

Shemar

I have finally finished book #4 in the Beach House Nights Series which I hope to have released soon. I’m also putting the finishing touches on a Christmas novella which I really need help on the title (see contest below) and will be working on a Valentine novella as soon as I finish it. After that…I have a couple of series I want to start working on. Not sure which I’m going to start first. Of course…they are all interracial. :-)

I guess I’ll entice you with a snippet from my Christmas novella coming soon and then tell you about the contest. So…check it out.

She turned to see him standing just inside the door. “The rooms are wonderful. I can’t say enough how much you’ve outdone yourself. I mean, it’s better than a hotel room. They’re comfortable with an at home feel.”

A large smile spread across his face. “Good. I’m glad you’re satisfied with the accommodations.”

Oh…she was so much more than that…or could be much more if he…well, she wasn’t going to go there with him being so close and a bed just a few feet away.

“If you need anything, anyone on my staff is available to help you by dialing extension sixty one on the phone, or you can come see me. I’m right across the hall.”

Jorja had moved closer to him, couldn’t help it actually. It always felt like there was an invisible magnet between them. She peered around him. “Your office?”

They stood just over the threshold now, facing each other, so close she could smell the soap and aftershave he’d used this morning. She resisted the urge to lean closer and get a better whiff.

“My living quarters.”

“Oh. You live here too?”

In college, their dorm rooms had been two buildings apart. Knowing he was going to be across the hall from her when she got into bed tonight sent an involuntary sliver of awareness straight down her spine.

“Yes.” He never took his eyes off her face. He’d always been so direct that way, giving her his full attention. Being under his intense gaze had always unnerved her, made her think that he saw and read every expression on her face, knew every thought that crossed her mind.

Heaven forbid.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, there you go. My heroine is Jorja and my hero is Neal. They went to college together and shared a drunken kiss one night they never talked about but also never forgot! Jorja is coordinating her sisters wedding and she, her sister, and all the bridesmaids are staying in a cozy B&B in Colorado the week before the wedding. Neal just happens to own this B&B and one night decides it’s time to let Jorja know how he’s felt about her all these years and after a kiss under the mistletoe (of course) decides to perform a sexy strip tease that leads to a whole lot more.
I need a title…desperately! I’ve thought of Under The Mistletoe, Strip Tease Under The Mistletoe. Neither of these titles are doing it for me. LOL
I NEED YOUR HELP!!! My contest for the blog hop – help me come up with a great title for this sexy little Christmas novella. Leave a comment with your idea and if I choose your title…you will receive a free copy of the title when it releases AND a $10.00 gift cert to Amazon. Also….not part of the contest but if you like me and/or friend me on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest…I’ll love you forever! :-) And while we’re talking about multicultural love – who is your favorite actor/actress of a different race? Leave that in your comment as well. I’m curious!
Get Vindicated with Lyric James ~ #excerpt, #bdsm
Tuesday, February 19th, 2013 | Book Pimpage, Coming Soon, Teaser Tuesday, Writing | No Comments
I’m sharing more of my upcoming novella with you today for Teaser Tuesday. This story was my first exploration into writing BDSM and I rather enjoyed it (probably because I’ve also been reading so much of it). So much so that Vindication is the first book in a series I have planned about a fantasy sex club called Twine. I don’t think each book will be completely about BDSM but about people exploring their sexuality and the level of kink they want to introduce into their lives from voyeurism to straight BDSM. It was also the reason why I made Twine a “fantasy” sex club and not a straight up BDSM club. However, there WILL be some element of BDSM in all the books.
I picked the series title Twine because some level of BDSM always involves tying someone up: to a St. Andrews Cross, to a headboard, or the more elaborate rope tying called Shibari. When I was looking for a series title I consulted my handy dictionary/thesaurus app and Twine just seemed to fit.
The definition for Twine is a strong thread or string composed of two or more strands twisted together, a coiled or twisted object or part, a knot or tangle. Perfect right? The couples in my stories will always be twined or twisted emotionally as well in some kind of way.
The excerpt today comes from the part of the story when Zechariah and Karyn finally decide, well, they don’t “decide” to explore the Dom/sub lifestyle. Rather, they are put into this particular situation because they have no choice. Hope you enjoy!
*~~~~~*~~~~~*
Zechariah;s dick began to throb the moment he and Karyn walked through the door. Hell, even before that. His entire body ached with desire to have the woman he loved submit herself to him…in every way.
What was it with him?
What he desired ping-ponged between getting as far away from this place as he could to wanting Karyn naked on her knees in front of him. He had an inexplicable urge to spank her hot ass then fuck her against the wall right now. She really didn’t understand what she was asking for.
When Link materialized in his office doorway, he knew she’d find out soon enough.
“You’ve come to a decision.”
Karyn skittered to a stop and her gaze swung up to his. She stumbled over her words. “Yes…I guess so.”
“Good. It must have been providence you came today. Your trainer is here.”
Zechariah’s heart slammed in his throat. It was too soon. Too soon. But how else could he explain their presence unless it was to begin their new training. They couldn’t very well say they were tracking a possible killer.
Link walked toward them and stopped at a doorway. “Come with me.”
He and Karyn exchanged glances. They had no choice but to follow. The door opened into a long dark hallway with doors every twelve feet or so. Their heels clacking on the hard wood floors were like nails being driven into his ears.
Link opened the door onto a utilitarian space with red concrete floors and gray walls. A padded spanking bench was in the middle of the room and a black wooden Saint Andrew’s Cross with padded manacles was nailed onto the back wall. A bed outfitted with a fitted red silk sheet and black headboard sat recessed against the wall to the right. A dresser beside it.
A dungeon.
Vindication 2
Series: Twine
Book #1 – Vindication
Warning: This book contains a submissive ready to embrace her dark side…a Dom unwilling to dominate the woman he loves…and a killer with a dangerous secret to hide.
Private Investigator Karyn Harris’ sister was killed in the line of duty and branded a rogue cop. She’s spent the last year grieving and wishing she could find the one clue that will vindicate her sister. Zechariah Washington, an ex-cop and law student, is there to help ease her pain, but he wants to be more than a shoulder to cry on. After a mid-afternoon booty call, an unexpected phone call sends Karyn and Zechariah to the last place her sister was seen alive…the BDSM club, Twine. Karyn finds out more than she bargained for about the last few months of her sister’s life and realizes the only way to find her killer is to follow in her footsteps, become a member of the club and enlists Zechariah to go under cover with her. Before too long, Karyn realizes she’s going down the same path. When the dark fantasies of voyeurism, spankings and group sex become her own, finding her sister’s killer no longer drives her desire to return to the club again and again, but her erotic need for Zechariah’s dominance. Will she come to her senses before it’s too late or will Karyn and Zechariah fall victim to the same people who murdered her sister?
Vindication will be available March 1st!
Lyric James’ Teaser Tuesday ~ Vindication ~ #excerpt, #BDSM, #ebook
Tuesday, February 12th, 2013 | Book Pimpage, Coming Soon, Writing | No Comments
Six Sentence Sunday is gone… :-(
That’s a sad face! But picture my happy face now. :-) I miss giving you little teasers from my books so I’ve decided to start doing “Teaser Tuesday’s.” It will be a just a little tease of a current WIP or upcoming book.  Today…an upcoming book.  This is my first attempt at BDSM (light) but I really enjoyed writing this book. It’s erotic romance and romantic suspense, which are my two favs.  I  hope you enjoy!
Vindication 2
Karyn drew in a bracing breath and opened the door. But to her horror, Zechariah stood directly in her path, staring at her with a chocolate brown gaze that promised retribution. He grabbed her by the arm and yanked forward.
“I asked you…no. I told you not to come here,” he snapped.
Yes.
Yes.
In her twisted, twisted mind she wanted this from him. She wanted him to take control and tell her what to do. Fresh pleasure arced through her body and her pussy clenched.  Because she trailed behind him, she couldn’t see the harsh angles of his face. But she felt his heat, the leashed anger that simmered and flowed back at her in waves.
She’d known he’d be furious with her but hadn’t expected to feel this sick thrill inside her, the side of her that wanted his punishment, wanted a spanking like she’d witnessed earlier.
Zechariah steered her between rows and rows of cars, and she was jolted by a shameful hot spark of need, needing his touch so badly.
At the front of his vehicle he wrenched her around. “What the hell is wrong with you?” he hissed between clenched teeth.
Vindication will be available March 1st!!!
A Picture Is Worth…Guess What? #Pinterest #UnderHisCover
Thursday, January 10th, 2013 | Book Pimpage, Coming Soon, Promotion | No Comments
….A thousands words. Well, 500 words as far as Pinterest is concerned.
pinterest
So I’ve been getting into Pinterest a lot as of late and I remembered a couple of posts about doing “boards” for your books and I decided to give it a try. I created a board for Under His Covers. My upcoming January release.
Under His Cover 200
It’s fun!
I thought back to different things that happened in my story and then “searched” for items that related to it. For example, in the beginning of my novel, Jade (my heroine) is a bridesmaid at a wedding and I begin the story just as the bridal bouquet is about to be thrown. The bouquet is made of roses and gardenias. I did a search for a bridal bouquet of roses and gardenias and “voila,” I have a picture that represents my story. I pinned it to the board and added the lines from the story that talk about the bouquet.
Jade Conner thrust backward, flung an elbow to the right and stepped on an instep to the left. For some god-awful reason, fate intervened and dropped the ribbon-wrapped bundle of roses and gardenias directly into her arms.
Pretty cool huh?
Jade also has a thing for butterflies (you’ll have to read the story to find out why). As a romantic gesture, Rhys (my hero) takes her to an aquarium that has a butterfly exhibit. So of course, I find pictures of butterflies to include on the board and under one of the butterflies I added the lines from the story that match.
“How did you…it’s so…they’re so beautiful. There are so many of them.” Rhys reached forward and grazed the tip of his finger over the white gold and amethyst butterfly charm lying against her chest. “You always wear one,” he said.
Now…will this type of promotion transfer into sales…I don’t know. But, it was fun doing it and it’ll give my readers a better visual before/after they read the story if they go to my Pinterest page. Random people who visit my page my read a caption and say, “Hey. I want to read that.”
At least that’s what I hope.
You can visit my Under His Cover Pinterest board here. And please, feel free to follow me and I’ll follow you right back. Let me know what you think.
Peace, love and sex!
Lyric James is Looking Ahead to 2013 #goals #writing #wip
Thursday, December 6th, 2012 | Coming Soon, Random Thoughts, Work In Progress, Writing | 5 Comments
It’s well into December and time to start thinking about what I plan to write next year. Setting goals is the name of the game!
  1. What do I want to accomplish?
  2. How many novels do I want to write?
  3. Who do I want to publish with?
These are all the questions that have crossed my mind in the last week.
What do I want to accomplish? I want to sell one million copies of all of my novels! Seriously! What are you laughing at? Hey, it’s possible. *grumble*
Ha! It IS possible…but will it happen?…Doubtful.
What I really want to accomplish is consistently writing EVERY SINGLE DAY. Writing well, writing what I want,  and writing books I’d want to read myself. Write just as much for “my” pleasure as I do for my wonderful readers. And hey, if that gets me to 100 copies or 1,000,000 copies…I’m happy and I won’t complain.
How many novels do I want to write? 16! I’m going to have to put on my big girl panties for this. Seriously! I’ve never written that much. Ever. Yes, some of them will be short stories (10K-20K) but that’s still a lot for me. I’m going to have to be really dedicated and determined next year to get this done. Right now…I’m motivated. Let’s hope I stay that way. I’ve completed a production schedule for all twelve months that include what books I will be writing, what I will be self-publishing, and to what e-publishers I’ll be sending certain stories to. The only person I’m accountable to is myself as far as this production schedule is concerned so the only person I’ll disappoint if I don’t accomplish all of this is me. I’m hoping I’ll be able to pat myself on the back this time next year.
Who do I want to publish with? Other than the three publishers I’ve already published with: Cobblestone Press, Samhain Publishing, and Elloras Cave, I don’t think I’m going to add anyone to this list. Yesterday I read about an interesting collaboration between Cosmo and Harlequin and…it’s tempting. So we’ll see about that. One day I’d love to submit something to a traditional publisher, but right now, with my self-publishing thrown in the mix…I’m happy with what I’m doing right now. Besides, traditional publishing means deadlines. I hate deadlines. Like I said earlier, if I don’t meet my goals, the only person I’m accountable to is ME. The disappointment will rest fully on my shoulders. I’d like to keep it that way for now.
So my fellow writers out there….are you thinking about your goals for next year? What are they? How many books would you like to write? Please comment. Cause I’m just nosy like that!
Peace, love and sex!
Sunday, December 2nd, 2012 | Book Pimpage, Coming Soon, Six Sentence Sunday, Writing | 3 Comments
Today’s Six Sentence Sunday comes from my upcoming release, Under His Cover! This six comes from the upcoming scene of the book. See if you can guess where my heroine, Jade, is. Enjoy! And don’t forget to visit the other Six Sentence Sunday authors here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The bouquet careened toward her like a harpoon.

“I got it.”

“No, I got it,” the other women around her screamed and laughed.

Did she want it?

Invisible fingers began to claw at her throat. The beat of her heart echoed loudly in her ears. Mouths moved, music played, but the sense of being underwater assailed her. She got shoved in both directions in a haze of silk, satin, and lace.

Hell no.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And I just got the cover art. Check it out. It conveys the title perfectly!
Under His Cover will be available December 15th! Here’s the blurb…
A night neither one of them can forget…
When Jade Conner attends her friend’s wedding she never intended to slip out of the reception and enjoy a one night stand with the sexy best man, Rhys Cunningham.
A lieutenant governor willing to bend the law to keep a family secret hidden forever…
When Rhys begins to receive threatening letters, a secret he’s kept hidden for eighteen years is about to be exposed if he doesn’t find some way to stop it.
A blackmailer with a hidden agenda who wants to expose it all…
Instead of going to the police, Rhys hires Jade to go undercover as his executive assistant to find out whose sending the threats. Jade refuses to let their one night together interfere with the job she’s been hired to do. But maintaining a professional relationship with the man who made her toes curl becomes a little difficult when every time she turns around…she ends up under his covers.
Peace, love and sex!
