Something Wet – Six Sentence Sunday
Sunday, July 29th, 2012 | Six Sentence Sunday, Writing | 7 Comments

Today’s six sentences come from book 2 of my Beach House Nights series, Something Wet. I hope you like it.
~~~~~~~~~~
“Are you following me?” she asked with a hint of tease, but with a confident edge in her voice. Her plan worked. Now, she had to figure out just how far her seduction needed to go so she could actually feel that rock-hard body against hers tonight.
“Do you mind?”
Violet shook her head. “Nope.”
Logan’s gaze traveled down to her feet and back up again. When his eyes reached her face, she asked, “You like what you see?”
Spark My Creativity – Write4Ten
Saturday, July 28th, 2012 | Writing | 2 Comments
I’ve been visiting some of my Triberr mates and found this awesome website that gives you a topic for you to use to spark your writing creativing for 10 minutes. The idea is to take that topic, create a scene in your mind and write about it for 10 minutes. At least, that’s what I’m going to do with it anyway. This weeks topic is “stamp.”
Tristan’s leg shook as she waited. She’d known for months that it was coming, that it would have to be done. She understood the tradition. It still didn’t stop the butterflies zinging around in her stomach. Glancing around, there were other girls and boys behind her, three in front, one of those, her best friend, Jessica. Turning thirteen was meant to be a big deal in their society. Receiving the stamp meant they weren’t children anymore. They were old enough now to choose their career paths, choose which direction their lives would take. She was leaning toward something in the creative field, writing maybe, or drawing. Knowing that she only had three years to prove herself made this day seem all too close. If she didn’t prove that she could succeed, that she was one of the best, she would be relegated to menial labor, which was considered a disgrace in the society. Tristan lost her train of thought when she had to move up one more spot. So close now. Would it hurt? Her mom said it wouldn’t but that didn’t mean anything. She might have told her that so she wouldn’t be afraid. The girl cradled her hand in her arm as she walked past her. The skin around the delicate stamp was red.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That was my 10 minutes. It was more difficult than I thought coming up with that. I didn’t get to finish the thought in my head. But it was fun. I’ll attempt to continue the story next week. If you would like to participate, go to Write4Ten to get next week’s prompt.
Hope you’re enjoying the Olympics as much as I am. My TV has been tuned in to NBC all day.

13 Reasons Why Procrastination Is NOT My Friend
Thursday, July 26th, 2012 | Thursday Thirteen | No Comments

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a Thursday Thirteen…but I felt I needed to because I’ve been suffering from a serious case of procrastination this week. I have a story…well, two short stories actually that I really want to get finished by August 1st and I’ve been procrastinating, finding anything and everything to do on my computer “except” write: Facebook, Twitter, Triberr, author websites, author and reviewer blogs, etc. etc. You get the picture. So, here’s 13 reasons whyprocrastination is NOT my friend.
- The laundry hamper in my bedroom is no longer a volcano.
- I had to get that sticky stuff off my kitchen floor.
- I learned how to make a gourmet hot dog last night for dinner.
- Goodwill was missing my summer donation.
- The TV is my friend.
- I had to get those cracker crumbs and granola paper packages out of the couch.
- The floors were way over do for a cleaning.
- Those clothes I washed up there had to be folded and put up.
- I just started reading The Game Of Thrones.
- Well, you know you have to dust after you clean.
- And once you clean the floors, you can’t leave the carpets out. They’ll get jealous.
- My bookshelf is nice and alphabetized and card cataloged now. Hey. I’m a librarian. What do you expect?
- I had to catch up on the movies I missed this summer.
What about you? What are some of those things you do to procrastinate instead of doing what you really need to do?

Six Sentence Sunday

“And if you had me say, for one night, what would you do with me?”
Even in the darkness, Dayna saw his irises flair and smolder. He was up in one fluid motion and came toward her, splashing water on her legs as he did. Jared didn’t touch her, but his nearness caused heated desire to slither down her spine. “I would worship every inch of your body. When I was done, you’d know you were the only woman in my life and no other could ever take your place.”

Awesome! to Oh Shiznit! in 2.2 Seconds
Friday, July 20th, 2012 | Book Review Friday, Uncategorized | 2 Comments
I bet you’re really wondering what the heck I’m talking about. This evening I was sitting at home relaxing with the family, checking my email and low and behold, I got a new review! I was super excited because I’d only gotten one review so far for Phoenix Kiss and I was wondering if anyone really even liked the story. I was reviewed by Guilty Pleasure Book Reviews. This is what DiDi had to say…

“I was thoroughly engaged from the beginning! The heroine needing an Epic Story about the reclusive millionaire, breaking into his house and the getting caught! *fans self* Yeat it was a definite smoke alarm in my house! =) Great story + Great sex scenes + plus equally hot characters = Awesome book!!! Definitely a must read for those of you that enjoy Shifter romance, and erotica combined.”
How awesome is that? I had a grin from ear to ear after I read that.
Then….
It all went to hell.
And yes, I may be over reacting and my little episode has absolutely nothing to do with writing. It has to do with exercising. I’ve been on an exercise kick since the beginning of July and have been doing really well exercising 5 days a week (Monday – Friday). I usually walk in the early AM after I drop my son off at camp. Well today, I had an inservice to attend so I missed my walk. I wasn’t going to let it deter me though from getting my 3 mile walk in. So, later in the evening after the blazing sun had gone down I went to my usual walking trail which is really beautiful. I’ve even seen a family of deer on my walk. Anyway…it was late, the sun was setting almost dark. I had my two daughters with me, although my oldest is a runner so she wasn’t with us.
Guess what I saw?
A damn snake. TWO of them beeyotches!! Back to back. I had a freaking hissy fit. My 13 year told me I had a kiniption fit. Hey, it’s probably true but it freaked me the hell out, especially since there were TWO of them. I could have sworn those sumbeeyotches were about 50 feet long…

…….but my daughter said they were more like a foot long.

But what the hell does she know? She’s only 13.
So…that’s how I went from Awesome! to Oh Shiznit! in 2.2 seconds. What about you guys? Have you ever gone through a situation like that?
Have a great day!
Peace, love and sex!

Lyric Is now on Twitter!
Monday, July 16th, 2012 | Work In Progress, Writing | 2 Comments
I finally bit the bullet and joined Twitter.

I’d been putting it off wondering if it was something I really needed (wanted) to do and decided after a workshop I attended over the weekend…what the hell! Just do it. So…I did. My Twitter handle is @authorlyric if you want to follow me. I’d absolutely LOVE some more followers. I think I have like…3 now. LOL
And don’t forget, I”m also on Facebook. You can follow me at http://www.facebook.com/AuthorLyricJames.
Well…enough about social media. I wanted you to know that Lyric has been busy. Busy doing “what” you ask….writing! Finally. I must admit that I waisted the entire month of June being a couch potato when school got out. However, I hit the ground running with writing and weight loss July 1. I’ve lost 2.5 pounds and I am working on several projects, a few that I want to self publish before the end of the summer. I feel scatter brained right now and I must find some organization and learn how to work on “ONE” project at a time and finish it.
What you must understand is that writers get story ideas all the time. Well…not ALL the time, but a lot. And for someone like me, instead of wriiting the idea down in a nice spot and going back to the “current’ project, sometimes I lose focus, which is the reason I’m currently working on more than one novel. I need to stop that. I think I’ve found a way to keep myself organized which I will be blogging about tomorrow at Paranormal Romantics.
I hope you’ll join me tomorrow and if you happen to stop by today, please say hello and tell me how you stay organized.
Peace, love and sex!
