Novelty Girl Saturday

Hi all. I’m blogging over at The Novelty Girls today talking about what book led me down the road to perdition. What one book started it all? What made me start reading like a mad woman? What book made me want to write one of my own?

Come on over and join me and let me know what your first was!

The Biggest Loser

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 | Biggest Loser | 4 Comments

Well, last week a few coworkers and I decided to compete in a … … challenge. We met and everyone weighed in on the 4th and paid $25.00. We’re going until December 19th…the last day before our Xmas break. Whoever loses the most “perecentage” of their weight by that time…gets the whole pot of $$$.

So, for the next six weeks I’ll keep you updated on my progress and if I win. I’m doing good so far. I weighed in yesterday and I lost 5.8 pounds. I refuse to tell you what I started out weighing…that’s none of your beeswax… …but for the first week, I did pretty good if I do say so myself.

Weight issues have been a problem for me since I had kids. I go up and down and all around. I’ve lost weight before, 34 pounds the last time, but I gained some of it back. Hopefully, this time, I can keep it off. I’m just one of those people who can manage to eat the right things, drink a lot of water and exercise…for so long. After a while I tend to get tired of not eating what I want to eat and instead of eating the recommended portions sizes for one person…I’ll eat it for several people. That’s what I have to practice, and to keep exercising, even after the challenge is over.

So, we’ll see. Wish me luck.

Tuesday Book Pimpage

OK…I have to admit it…I’m hooked. I have been reading Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series like a mad woman for the past two months. I’m currently in the middle of #7 and I swear I think before it’s over I’m going to pee in my pants. It’s just that funny. I was reading today laughing out loud with tears rolling down my face.

I’m serious.

I have book #8 waiting for me when I’m done with this one. I can’t wait to read them all. So, if you like a little mystery and a whole lot of laughter, put it on your TBR pile or list because I’m telling you, once you start reading them, you won’t be able to stop.

So, what about you guys? Read any good books and/or series lately?

Writing and Such

Monday, November 10th, 2008 | Writing | No Comments

Well, my goal on Monday’s is to give a little update on what I’m writing and my progress thus far. I have all these goals and lofty ambitions for the next six months or so. Hopefully my brain and my fingers can keep up. I’m in the middle of a Valentine’s story that I want to submit to Cobblestone Press that has to be in by Saturday, the 15th. But, I’m stuck. I hate it when that happens. I think I know where I want the story to go but then a brain freeze comes along and I’m no where. I’m a little over 8K in and I want to get to around 12K but where I am in the story right now…ugh…it just won’t come to me. But, I’m working on it and I’m not going to let a little thing called writers block┬ástop me. I haven’t submitted anything in like…for-eva…and that’s driving me nuts all by itself. I know both my publishers are like…what’s wrong with her? I have to finish this story by Saturday. I’m have to. I’m determined.

Wish me luck.

Loved...loved...loved. Now...since she's finally dealt with the demons of both her parents...if she'd only get pregnant!!! I would really love to see how she combines being the bad-a@@-cop she is with motherhood.

This was my first Patricia Cornwell novel and I really enjoyed. Her relationship with her niece was great. Great story and plot. Can't wait to read the next one.

So awesome to be in Percy's head again! Once again Rick Riordan took me away to the awesome world of Roman/Greek mythology via his demigods. Instead of Camp this book we visit the counterpart Roman camp, Camp Jupiter. In t...
